Toyota's rebadged Baleno is here
Toyota Glanza, the first product of Toyota-Suzuki joint venture, has been launched in India at Rs 7.22 lakh for the entry-level G trim while the top-end V trim has been priced at Rs 7.58 lakh. At this cost, both these variants are paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Toyota Glanza is also available CVT automatic, with G CVT priced at Rs 8.3 lakh while the Glanza V CVT will set you back Rs 8.9 lakh.
Under the hood
The Toyota Glanza is powered by Baleno's BSVI-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine that is available in two different states of tunes. This engine churns out 88.5 bhp on the G Manual trim and 81.8 bhp on the V manual, CVT and G CVT trims, while delivering 113 Nm of torque across the range. The engine on the G MT variant also gets a lithium-ion battery with Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This battery setup offers functionalities like idle start-stop function, torque assist function, and brake energy regeneration, and offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.87 km/l, which is more than the 21.01 km/l fuel efficiency figure on the V MT variant.
Apart from this, the fuel efficiency figure for the G CVT and V CVT is 19.56 km/l.
The major difference is that unlike the Baleno, which has a warranty of two years or 40,000 km, the Glanza gets Toyota's three years or 1 lakh km warranty period. Besides this, the changes in the Glanza are very few.
Same design as Baleno's
Talking about the design of the Glanza, it is the same as Baleno's except that the Maruti Suzuki badge has been replaced by Toyota's. Apart from this, the Glanza looks like a Baleno in every sense, including the alloy wheel design. Both the cars have the same interior with the same equipment list and features.
The Toyota Glanza gets dual front airbags and ABS+EBD with brake assist. On the feature front, it gets LED projector headlamps, fog lamps, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and support for voice commands, automatic air conditioning, and keyless entry with push-button stop/start as standard. In addition to these features, the top-end V model of Glanza also gets LED DRLs, reverse parking camera and automatic headlamps.
