Auto sales remained lukewarm in the month of November despite decent festive season sales with the majority of automakers recording a year-on-year (YOY) decline in sales.
Let's take a quick look at some of the carmakers performed in terms of sales in the month of November 2019.
Maruti Suzuki India: The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) reported a 1.9 percent decline in sales at 1,50,630 units in November. The company had sold 1,53,539 units in November last year, MSI said in a statement. Domestic sales declined by 1.6 percent at 1,43,686 units last month as against 1,46,018 units in November 2018, it added.
Hyundai Motor: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) reported a 7.2 percent increase in total sales at 60,500 units in November. The company had sold 56,411 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement. Domestic sales were up 2 percent at 44,600 units as against 43,709 units in November 2018, the company added.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.: Auto major Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) reported a 9 percent decline in total sales in November at 41,235 units. The company had sold 45,101 units in the corresponding month last year, M&M said in a regulatory filing. In the domestic market, sales were down 7 percent at 38,614 units last month as compared to 41,564 units in November 2018.
Toyota India: Japanese car maker's joint venture Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said it sold 8,312 units in November, registering a 22 percent annual decline from 10,721 units in the same month a year ago in the domestic market.
Tata Motors: Tata Motors reported a 25.32 percent decline in total sales to 41,124 units in November. The company had sold a total of 55,074 units in the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement. Total domestic sales were down 25 percent at 38,057 units as compared to 50,470 units in November last year, it added.
Honda Cars India: Honda Cars India registered monthly domestic sales of 6,459 units in November 2019. The company registered a massive drop of more than 50 percent in sales in November compared to the same period last year. The company had sold 13,006 units in the domestic market in November 2018.
